Who is it for?

It is a legal requirement for employers to ensure that all staff receive adequate information, instruction, training and supervision for the purposes of health and safety (the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974).

Developed for those who need or wish to obtain their Forklift Certificate for Counterbalance. These courses enable individuals to meet specific operating standards, in turn allowing them to successfully pass the associated practical, theory and pre-shift tests.

Courses available

Novice

Duration: 5 days (37.5 hours)

Experienced

Duration: 3 days (22.5 hours)

Refresher

Duration: 1 day (7.5 hours)

Conversion

Duration: 2 days (15 hours)

The Course

Delivered by our highly qualified, experienced instructors, the Counterbalance courses equip learners with the essential skills, knowledge and understanding required to safely and competently operate the lift truck.

The courses specifically cover:

  • The Operator’s Safety Code
  • Starting, moving and stopping the truck
  • Equipment stability
  • Steering, the hydraulic system and refuelling/ recharging
  • Controls and instruments
  • Pre-use inspection and takeover maintenance
  • Weight assessment
  • Forklift truck stability
  • Handling laden and unladen pallets / load handling
  • Stacking and de-stacking Vehicle loading and unloading
